Meet Dave Pelzer
Dave Pelzer was born on December 29,1960 in Daly City, CA where most of his abusement took place. A historical event that took place in Dave Pelzer's life was when he was rescued by social services at school. That was the end of his abuse from his mother and family. Something Dave did as a kid was steal food. He literally had no choice but to steal food from other kids to survive. His later hobbies in life was writing books telling people about his childhood. The most important thing that Dave ever did was writing the books telling people about his abuse. It was hard for him to write the books because he had to think back to all the bad memories and how traumatic it was. In an interview with Dave Pelzer he said, " A Child Called It was a story about resilience, it was never about boo hoo hoo, it was about a kid who didn't quit."
The most important people in Dave's life is his son, Stephen, because he gave him the gift of love. Also the staff at Thomas Edison Elementary School because they Saved his life. The staff that saved him were, Steven E. Ziegler, Athena Konstan, Peter Hansen, Joyce Woodworth, Janice Woods, Betty Howell and the school nurse. Dave Pelzer lived by this quote by a kid and still now that he's older, "To help yourself, you must be yourself. Be the best that you can be. When you make a mistake, learn from it, pick yourself up and move on." He learned at a young age to just pick yourself up and keep going. He had to if he wanted to survive.
